Peace, Love, Etc.

I still remember
Last December
When you were here and everything felt better
Funny how things fall apart
When the shoulder that I gave was colder than the wind outside
Biting words, insults, and endless fights
So much for silent nights when all I do is cry
I hope you’re moving on
I’ll wish you that much
I hope you’re doing good
Peace, love, etc.
Wishing you merry Christmas still,
I said it then and I always will for you
And I hope this season treats you better than I do
They’re putting ups trees and all the lights are aglow
Kid’s are laughing, and running through piles of snow
And I think back to a year ago
When you were here standing right by side
Singing seasonal songs by the open fire
But now I’m singing on my own
I hope you’re moving on
You deserve that much
Wanted to let you know
That I’m sorry because I fear
I was the one who did you wrong
Now I understand that it’s all my fault
And I hope your holidays are happier this year
I still remember
Last December
When you were here and everything felt better
But now I’m celebrating without you
I hope your holiday is merry and bright
I hope it’s joyful, warm, and white
While I deck the halls in blue
I hope you’re moving on
I’ll wish you that much
I hope you’re doing good
Peace, love, etc.
Wishing you merry Christmas still,
I said it then and I always will for you
And I hope this season treats you better than I do

New Years Resolutions
03:50
|
|||
365 days
365 ahead of me
That I’m supposed to learn how to tolerate
But you’re at a different party
Dancing with a different girl
So someone tell me what I’m expected to celebrate
The balls about to drop
The champagnes about to pop
And Im stuck here thinking about some New Years Resolutions
And I don’t want a repeat
Of last year but what should I do differently
And its hard to think bout what’s to come
When you’re stuck thinking bout what isn’t
Girls dressed up as dolls
Shoes lining the halls
But someone’s got to be sober enough to drive us all home
Paper and ribbons
Across the floors and ceilings
But someone’s bound to have to clean them up tomorrow
The balls about to drop
The champagnes about to pop
And Im stuck here thinking about some New Years Resolutions
How to be a better person
How to make that better version
Of myself that I’ve been searching for for ages
And suddenly they’re screaming
No nostalgic feelings
Just a glimmer of hope
They’re all up from their chairs and
They’ve got the TV blaring
But somebody’s got to clean it up tomorrow
The ball’s already dropped
The champagnes already popped
And I don’t have a single New Years Resolution written down
Holding back tears
From the smiling, happy people here
Who’ve got the music playing excessively loud
(Music interlude)
In the corner crying
Rose gold confetti flying
They’re screaming and dancing while I’m wondering what’s worth celebrating
Sequined dresses lined with lace
Mascara running down my face
Somebody tell me what we’re expected to celebrate
Paper and bows
Glitter and gold
But somebody’s gotta clean it up tomorrow
